Description:
A Chinese Qing Dynasty Kangxi period blue and white dish, with wide foot with steep rounded sides and everted flange. Decorated to the sides with mountainous landscapes and the flanges with diaper patterns interspaced with six cartouches. The interior with a scene of three warriors on horseback in a landscape setting in underglaze blue. The foot with a Lingzhi or sacred fungus in a double circle, the rhombic brocade design on the flange of this bowl is commonly seen in the late 17th century on both domestic and export ware. The dominant warrior appears to be the Tang general Guo Ziyi who was famous for quelling the an Shi rebellion during the Tang dynasty, Provenance: Henning collection, 36.5 cm diameter
