A Japanese modernist studio vase by Kondo Yuzo (1902-1985), Showa period (1926-1989), circa 1970, of gently flaring cylindrical form in white porcelain, decorated boldly in underglaze blue with plum blossom. Signed Konbdo to base. Together with its tomobako (original signed Japanese wooden box), 23 cm high, 13 cm diameter. Other Notes: Kondo Yuzo was made a Living National treasure in 1977 for advancing underglaze blue decoration. He was one of the great potters of Kyoto and the forms of his pieces are as important as their decoration,
