This bat shows match-use by Bradman prior to the Third Test at Leeds in July, where he scored 334. As with other classic match bats (like the 5th Test bat for 1930), Bradman had these signed by both teams at the end of a major match, and added signatures by other visiting teams; in this case to reverse on left pane, headed 'West Indies Australian Tour 1930-31' are Sealy, Scott, Griffith, Bartlett, de Caires, Wright and a couple of faded signatures. Provenance: Gifted to John Raymond, Manager of the Primary Producers Bank Bega at the St. George Dcc v Shoalhaven Dca match on 30 September 1931. Raymond had played against Bradman twice, once for Narooma and District XII v Sydney Sports on 5 February 1930, where Bradman retired on 103 (Raymond got 2 runs and 0/27), then again on 6 February as captain of Bega District where he scored 37 and Bradman retired on 127 | | Estimate: | *** | | Price: | *** | | Category: | Memorabilia — Sporting - Cricket | |
