A George III sterling silver cream jug, 1788 London, with maker's mark for Samuel Meriton I of baluster form with double scroll handle and scalloped top, the body closely embossed and chased with nebulous C-scrolls surrounding two reserves with swans on lake scenes, raised on three shell and trefoil feet, one foot inscribed with initials, marked to the underside. Weight 87g height 10 cm
