19th century mere pounamu, Kawakawa variety stone with light speckled inclusions, blade tapering to the grip section terminating in four graduating cut grooves. Handle pierced in the traditional manner with a countersunk hole. Small amount of fritting to the blade. Y registration pending. 34.5 cm length
