A French artillery short sword, made by Chatellerault Armory, France, circa 1831, with a leaf blade, ridged brass grip and brass mounted leather scabbard, marked 'Manufacture d'Armes de Chatellerault' to base of the blade, 66 cm long. Other Notes: this sword was referred to by French soldiers as a 'Coupe-chou' or cabbage cutter.
