Chinese late Ming Dynasty porcelain jar and cover, of baluster form, with a domed cover and conical finial, the body decorated with a 'Rolling wave' design on an aubergine ground, set amongst floating buddhist symbols, pomegranate, prunus flower heads and rocky outcrops with crashing turbulent waves in tones of green, with decorative banded borders to the cover, neck, shoulder and foot in varying designs of the similar theme, with exposed orange hued biscuit base, a/f (repairs to body and cover), height 36 cm note: similar example illustrated in volume II of 'Les Porcelaines et Les Pierres Dures Chinoises' by Edgar Gorer & J.F Blacker, 1911, plate 193.
