House of Finnigans, Historic trunk, the dark leather rustic dome lidded trunk with tan leather trim and brass hardware, 76 x 60 x 54 cm., the house of Finnigans was a British luxury luggage and trunk maker established in 1830, originally in Manchester and later in New Bond Street in London. The house of Finnigans manufactured and produced a wide range of luxury products, including trunks, bags, fashion, jewelry, timepieces, and silverware. Defunct in 1988, the house of Finnigans has since changed hands and is now owned by the Luvanis Company, which specializes in reviving long-dormant brands, such as Moynat and Belber., Provenance: The property of the late Henry Sutton, (4 September 1855, Ballarat, Victoria - 28 July 1912), born in Ballarat Victoria 1855. His parents were Richard and Mary Sutton who founded Sutton's music store, established in 1854. Sutton remains largely unknown to most Australians, however he is credited with this own in inventions of lighting, batteries, photography, telephony and an early version of television he called 'Telephane'.
