Description:
A superb pair of very fine quality sterling silver and Old Sheffield plate Rococo revival oval shaped entree dishes. The bases, in Old Sheffield Plate, raised on four shell mounted cabriole feet with scrolling terminals, and double arched and reeded loop handle to either end. Each fitted with an Old Sheffield warming insert beneath a sterling silver tray with fancy rococo scroll and wave mounted border. Both with fitted covers to match with similar decoration to the flat tops. A sterling silver key with cartouche form handle and acanthus leaf mount, adorned with engraved armorial crests to the front of each cover. Made by T.J. & N. Creswick of Sheffield, circa 1843, 19 cm high, 38 cm wide, 4460 grams total silver weight
