Description:
A Tag Heuer Carrera Cal 16 Chronograph Watch Editon Juan Manuel Fangio. Ref CV2010.BA0974. 41m Stainless steel case with black tachymetric bezel, Tag Heuer Calibre 16 automatic chronograph movement, black dial with sliver subdials and date window at 3 o'clock. Juan Manuel Fangio motif engraved caseback, steel bracelet with folding clasp. Swiss made. Box and papers. 1962 was the year Jack Heuer found the inspiration for what would go on to become one of the brand's most recognizable wristwatches: the Heuer Carrera. Named after the Carrera Panamericana which was a border-to-border road race along the new Pan-American Highway, which covered 2170 miles from Mexico's northern border with the United States to Ciudad Cuauhtemoc in the far south of the country. Carrera, simply means 'race' or 'career' in Spanish. Heuer is synonymous to the motorsport world and this one honors Juan Manuel Fangio, the fabled Argentinian who won the Formula One World Driver's Championship no fewer than five times during the 1950s, setting a record that stood for 47 years before finally being broken by Michael Schumacher in 2003.
