Massim canoe Splashboard (Lagim), Trobriand Islands, Papua New Guinea. Carved and engraved wood and natural pigments. Wooden canoe prow splash board, intricately carved on one face, plain on other, splash board placed transversely across the prow behind the prow ornament.
