A Japanese Staghorn okimono, Meiji period (1868-1912), ornately carved in the form of a Karashishi (Chinese lion), the mythological creature standing proud with its mouth open and uttering the 'Aum' or 'seed of the universe' sound. It's hair and tail in flowing locks, 8.5 cm high, 5.5 cm wide, 3.5 cm deep
