'Bartlett' cricket bat, with gold-embossed lettering on reverse 'Branxholme C.C., 1894-95, Trophy, Presented By, A.G.Laidlaw Esq, For Highest Batting Average, Won By, J. Dew'. Fair/good condition. A school teacher, later MA and Inspector of Schools, Joseph Dew was the Son of John Dew of Bath, a boy convict, transported for seven years to van Diemen's Land in 1840s. Joseph's Son was Sir Harold Dew, Professor of Surgery, University of Sydney. His unmarried daughter in her will left $3.6 million to the Walter & Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research.
