Description:
A fine quality Hanoverian 25- Bore double barrel flintlock sporting gun the barrels bearing the monogram of George Frederick Augustus, Prince of Wales and future King George IV. The barrels are by Daire, Chaeleville, circa 1800 - 1810. Stock and mounts by Tanner, Herzberg, circa 1820.Having blued 85 cm long barrels with gold inlaid signature and ornament, incorporating crowned monogram of George Fredrick Augustus, silver fore- sight, engraved locks with gold lined makers stamps, gold lined priming pan, walnut half stock and engrave blued iron mounts, silvered escutcheon with princely crest probably that of the Duke of Cambridge. This sporting gun has retained much of its original finish.
