Description:
A fine George III brass bound mahogany quarter striking three train musical bracket clock, Eardley Norton, London, circa 1785, the bell topped case with elaborate finials above pierced and engraved sound frets backed by red silk, glass side panels, reeded canted corners and raised on a stepped base with ogee bracket feet, with an 8 inch shallow arched brass dial signed on a recessed plaque flanked by subsidiary dials for strike/silent and four tune selector, scroll spandrels, silvered chapter ring and finely matted centre with date, the movement with verge escapement repeating the hours and playing the tunes on eight bells, together with a contemporary mahogany and brass bracket.
