A round Satsuma lidded box, Meiji period, 1868-1912, signed but illegible, delicately decorated to a shaped cartouche with seated ladies and gentlemen enclosed by brocaded borders in a muted palette of iron red, various greens and lilac with gilt enrichments, the interior embellished to both the base and lid with red crested cranes in flight, bordered black cartouche underside, diameter 8 cm
