An early Japanese bronze of the Amida Buddha, in Kamakura (12th-13thC) style, seated with hands in Mida no Jain mudra. Rich brown patina with remnant gilding, high copper content base metal showing through on highpoints and face. Supple modelling with contoured robes falling from the broad rounded shoulders, the face with downcast eyes under delicately arched brows, height 44 cm, width 33.5 cm.
