Close's Merry-Fire', 'Presented by Mr Isaac's for point to point Steeplechase maiden Hunters'. The cup with maker's details for John Dixon & Sons, height 23 cm. Note: details supplied with the cup state: 'The Pakuranga (Auckland) Point-to-Point Steeplechase was won in fast time by Merry-fire, against a field of fourteen, over nineteen obstacles, including stone walls and four and five railed fences. The same horse ran third in the Hunt club Steeplechase, 2½ Miles. Merry-fire was bred on Olrig station, is out of Firefly and was hunted in Hawke's bay the season before last'.
