Description:
A plaster medallion 'Summer' by Lewis Jarvis Harvey (1871-1949), a plaster medallion titled with a profile of a young woman with wheat sprays in her hair, personifying summer, signed 'L.J. Harvey 10' and incised Ljh to reverse, in a blackwood shelf frame carved with Art Nouveau leaves in low relief, diameter of medallion 20.5 cm, the frame 37 x 31 cm. Provenance: The Ruth Simon Collection, privately acquired from the above in 2005. Other Notes: the twenty second Annual exhibition of the Queensland Art Society held from 3rd August 1910 in the Old Lands Office, lists in the Woodcarving Section, item 172 'Summer (Panel)' by L. J. Harvey.
