Description:
Important and early cedar secretaire bookcase, previously undocumented with 18th century design elements and Georgian master crafted cabinet work, with Hepplewhite inspired swan necked pediment with Chippendale pinwheel adornment. Georgian 13 pane glazing bar pattern with original drawn glass, of beautiful line and proportion constructed from select early dense cedar, the design is typical of the form of the late eighteenth century, especially the glazing bar pattern which was favoured by both Hepplewhite and Chippendale, finely fitted pull out bureau with archives and concealed drawers, horizontal backboards and rosehead nails, original locks and keys, ebonised diamond escutcheons and pure ebony handles to secretaire and bunch ring turned feet. Rich ribbon grained cedar on cedar veneers to pediment, upper doors, secretaire front and to the apron base, 115 cm wide, 51 cm deep, 249 high
