Description:
An important French XVI period bronze clock and Candleabra garniture by Pierre-Francois-Gaston Jolly, the dial signed 'Gaston Jolly a Paria' probably executed by the master enameller Joseph Coteau, (1740-1812). Jolly was received into the guild of master horologers in Paris in 1784 and produced some of the finest clocks of the late 18th to early 19th centuries. The fine gilt and patinated bronze neoclassical cases, such as this example, were often supplied by the master bronziers, Robert and Jean Baptiste Osmond. French circa 1790. 44 x 22 x 15 cm
