Description:
A gilt bronze Empire period clock, the case depicting cupid with his bow resting against a neoclassical column, on a base decorated with frieze of playing cherubs. The case is by Pierre-Victor Ledure (master bronzier 1783-1842), the movement is by Claude Hermon, with both names on the enamel dial. Ledure was one of the leading bronziers of the early 19th century with an impressive clientele. His works are mainly in leading collections including the Brighton pavilion. Hemon, a respected horologer, was established in the Rue de St. Martin by 1810. French circa 1810. 45.5 x 32 x 15 cm
