Claret jug with emu egg 1870's South Australian Colonial zoomorphic, exhibition piece, by J Henry steiner, body of emu egg mounted in sterling silver, neck & spout in the form of an emu head with snake handle & thumb flip lid, the Socle base of plain form with engraved fern pattern & Feathered collar, foot rim with Clearly struck linear Hallmarks, comprising Crown, H steiner, Adelaide & lion Passant, height 33 cm, very similiar to the claret jug in the National Gallery of Australia collection (Accession number NGA2014.1032)
