1890 Melbourne Cup race finish photograph showing Carbine winning the race, on a mount with some faults, overall 40 x 24 cm, extremely rare. Endorsed at lower right 'E.T.H. Xmas '37 Pjp', and with further inscription on reverse 'Carbine's Cup, 1890, 10st 5lbs highest weight ever carried in the Cup. Time 3.28ΒΌ Jock. R Ramage'. (Over the next decade jockeys adopted the modern riding posture - the so-called Martini glass; in this photograph all the jockeys are riding with straight legs)
