John Rogers (1829-1904 American), Taking the Oath and Drawing Rations', 1866, plaster sculpture, named and entitled to base, some later restoration, height 39 cm. Note: Rogers was a noted American sculptor who produced very popular and relatively inexpensive figurines in the late 19th century. He created groups from 1859 to 1892 on the subject of everyday life, the theatre, Shakespeare, the Civil War and horses, etc.
