An Irish George II mahogany chest on stand, circa 1740s, rectangular, the hinged top veneered with a central panel within broad edge bands and a moulded edge enclosing an open compartment, the drawer below surrounded by beading, with heavy brass handles to the sides, the stand with a moulded top edge and shallow frieze above an apron richly carved to the front and sides with acanthus centred by a shell flanked by birds, on cabriole supports with lion's paw feet, 107 cm high, 128 cm wide, 69 cm deep
