A superb pair of Victorian sterling silver pedestal comports, 1879 London, with maker's mark for Alexander Crichton, finely cast borders of arabesque and floral forms punctuated with mascarons, owls, and fantastic dragon snakes, the knopped pedestals each with four, pointy eared goblins, crisply hallmarked underside, Crichton's craft was, apparently much influenced by the writings of Lewis Carroll, silver weight 1727gr height 14 cm, diameter 23 cm
