Description:
A moulded and carved double-gourd bottle vase, Jiaqing mark, Republic period, the lower section with a phoenix standing amongst two peony branches, the upper section with the sun accompanied by scrolling clouds, and a dated inscription, 'first day after the full moon during the second month of the sixth year of Jiaqing (1801)', 27 cm high. Provenance: Private collection, Sydney. For a very similar gourd vase, with slight difference in the decoration and inscribed dating (1796), see Christie's New York, 22 to 23 March 2018, lot 974
