A rare and important pair of 17th century Venetian painted toile screens, circa 1660, with twenty-four separated illustrated panels depicting a social history of 17th century Venice, enclosed with running foliate borders and surmounted by a shaped and painted architecture pediment. Overall each screen is 204 cm high, 261 cm wide. Provenance: The modern Decorator, featuring the closing stock in trade of Graham Cornall Antiques, Mossgreen, 8th November 2005, lot 52.
