A sancai-glazed pottery figure of an equestrienne, Tang dynasty, the chestnut glazed horse standing four square with head turned slightly to the left, the mane and tail docked, the female rider seated astride with hands clasped and held in front as though holding the reins, wearing a long green tunic, her head facing forward and hair drawn into a high coiffure, the black painted saddle resting on a dappled saddle cloth in green, cream and chestnut glazes, 40 cm high, This figure is accompanied by a thermoluminescence authentication report from the University of Wollongong, Test No W4949, Compare with an equestrienne sold Christie's, New York, 14 September 2018, lot 1274, illustrated
