A cylindrical red lacquer covered box, used for tobacco, betel nut and other herbs, pagan, Burma, circa 1940, the iron red ground finely painted with repeat geometric design, a central figure holding a banner with Burmese script, two original trays with same pattern as base. Condition: Damage to footrim and cracks to interior lacquer, height 22 cm, diameter 23 cm
