A large Neolithic pottery jar with applied loop handles, and short curved mouth rim, Gansu-Yangshao culture, 3,000-1,500 BC, figures painted on the surface in red and purple mineral pigment, the bulbous body balanced on a narrow flat base. Provenance: Acquired in Hong Kong in mid 1990s. Condition: very good, has been stored in a box, height 24 cm, diameter 25 cm
