Description:
A rare English Turret clock, Kemp Bros, Bristol, circa 1901, the cast iron dial skeletonised with gilt finished steel hands, Roman numerals and an ivy leaf design pierced centre. Flatbed two train with double three legged gravity escapement with counterwheel control of strike with pump action on hour for one bell and night lock out of bells with pump out of both bells. Pendulum bob 240lb with wood rod, Please note: viewing by appointment only, dial 240 cm diameter. Provenance: Purchased from the antique clock auction at the St Kilda Town Hall, October 9th 1974, lot 125. Other Notes: originally forming part of the Pro Cathedral of the Apostles in Clifton. The Pro-Cathedral was a Roman Catholic Cathedral in Bristol from 1850-1974. It was replaced by the Clifton Cathedral in Clifton Park in 1973.
