1936 Berlin Olympic Torch (first Olympic Torch), made from steel by Krupp, designed by Carl Diem, comprising shaft with handguard, 27 cm tall. Legend around top '* Als Dank Dem Trager */ Organisations- Komitee Fur Die XI. Olympiade Berlin 1936', torch run itinerary etched on handle with legend 'Fackel-Staffel-Lauf/ Olympia-Berlin/ 1936'. The fuel was Magnesium based. The first torch relay covered a distance of 3075 km from Olympia to Berlin, crossing seven countries in 11 days & 12 nights, by 3075 runners. The stadium flame was ignited by the last German runner, Schilgen, at 5:20pm on August 1, 1936
