A Japanese bronze vase Sentoku carp design, signed Kozan with Kakihan, Studio seal mark to base, Meiji period, fine quality with wide tapering body on circular base. The shoulder of the vase inlaid in half relief with two brass carp. (silver eye). Incised mark to underside signed Hoshu, 16.5 cm high, note: swimming carp recall the Chinese legend of a carp that became a dragon after swimming up a waterfall at the headwaters of the yellow river, a parable of effort and success.
