A bronze frog drum, with a central eight point star & elephants walking from the base, Laos, 19th century, used in the ritual life of the Karen, a distinct minority from the mountains, a pair of frogs are placed on four equidistant points on the perimeter of the tympanum, a vertical seam, engraved auspicious motifs in each of the concentric circles, charactistic of drums for resonance & the tympanum quality, H. 49, diameter 62 cm.
