A Chromolithograph of HRH Edward VIII & a set of HRH'S Encyclopedia Brittanica, the portrait housed in an elaborate wood carved frame, the chromolithograph 40.5 x 28.5 cm, the frame 55 x 69 cm., the Encyclopedia, Eleventh edition, the Handy volume issue, New York 1910-11, leather binding with gilt tooled covers bearing the Prince of Wales feather crest with the motto 'Ich Dien', translating from German to 'I Serve', in 32 volumes. Provenance: The Duke & Duchess of Windsor collection, September 11-19 1997, Sotheby's New York, note: Edward VIII was invested as Prince of Wales in June 1911, the encyclopedia was most likely purchased or gifted after his investment and the crests on each volume was most likely applied thereafter
