*** Very Rare Pair of 19th century French Ivory Mirrors made in the town of Dieppe in the Napoleonic style, c. 1820 - 1830. (Some small pieces of ivory missing on the side). In the early 19th century much ivory was imported from the French Territories in Africa to Dieppe where there was a thriving industry making ivory brush handles, small items etc. Very occasionally and on a "commission basis" a wealthy client would order a major work with approx.… ***

Margaret Butler was New N26 Zealand's first major woman sculptor. She was born in Greymouth and educated in Wellington. She travelled and exhibited in Europe as well as in New Zealand.
