Description:
i) A rare West Australian Colonial 9ct gold Queen Victoria commemorative medal. Issued to Inspector Edward George back (1839-1907), 30 years long service to June 20th 1897. The Sir John Forrest administration marked Queen Victoria's 60th reign celebrations, by striking just 24, commemorative medals for the law men, with just 10, being in gold. The medals were manufactured and designed by. A. W. Dobie & Co. Perth and are recorded to be the first official medal of that kind ever struck for any, organisation of any type in Australia. Note: Inspector Edward George back, joined 1867, in charge of the Fremantle District from 1895, until he, retired in 1901. Believed to belong to E.G. Back. Diameter 48 mm. iii) 9ct yellow gold Australian pocket watch chain, with 15ct T-bar and 15ct parrot clasp. T-bar stamped with makers mark. Length 38.5 cm.
