An antique diamond and mother of pearl brooch circa 1900, made by Basse the rose cut diamonds are set into a crescent design surrounding a circular, cabochon mother of pearl, having a decorative gallery of 9ct yellow gold (tested) and silver claws with safety chain and having original box stamped Basse under pin diameter: 22 mm. Frederick Basse (1852 and 1913) was a German born and trained jeweller who arrived in Adelaide in 1880 and exhibited in the 1881 Adelaide exhibition. in 1909 the Governor General appointed F.
