*** A pair of Qing dynasty hardwood horseshoe back armchairs, the curved top rail with down-swept arms and out-swept hand grips are constructed of three pieces using lap joined method, more commonly the cresting is in five pieces. The rectangular S shaped splat with a central pieced cloud medallion of Kylins. The seat with inset panel upon rounded legs, which go through the seat framing to support the crest rail. The brass-shaped fittings reinforce the construction where stresses occur.… ***
