With a passionate eye for design, Hicks established her own business in London in the 1990s and in 1999 released her first range of caftans and fashion accessories – something she now does twice a year.

In November 2010, Hicks published her latest book “An Eye For Design” which has been described as a “visual poem and an internal voyage through a designer’s mind which will inspire readers to look at fabrics and interiors in new ways”.

Hicks named several auction items she believed would attract auction goers including a gilt bronze and painted French bureau-plat (Lot 46 ), a pair of clear Murano glass and brass wall lights (Lot 191 ) and several Venini frames (lots 220-225).

Other items of interest include a pair of aqua velvet armchairs with oak legs (Lot 109 ) and an 18th century Italian commode (Lot 137 ).
