Description:
A Rare Renou Musical automaton of Little Girl with Puppet Theatre, French, circa 1900, the bisque head with partly legible red stamp 'Depose Tete Jumeau', with open mouth, fixed brown eyes, pierced ears, later blonde wig attached to cork pate, later blue dress and shoes, painted composition hands, one holding a wand, the other holding a string attached to a curtain which raises to reveal a puppet standing on a stage mounted on a red velvet covered rectangular base containing a key-wound stop-start musical mechanism causing the girl to bang the stage with her wand, nod her head and raise the curtain to reveal the puppet with moving arms and leg and a different face each time the curtain is raised, with a sequence of five changes in total. Doll 49 cm high, overall 61 cm high, 44 cm wide, 25 cm deep.
