A Westminster Cathedral skeleton clock by John Evans of Handsworth, circa 1860 one of the most attractive of Evans Cathedral Clocks., the double fusee 8 day movement with deadbeat escapement, maintaining power, passing strike on a centre church shaped bronze bell with hour strike and repeat on a coil blued steel gong, fitted with a compensated pendulum. Typical high quality workmanship from John Evans, with 6 spoke wheel work, 6 nicely turned pillars between the elaborately pierced and decorative brass plates with the use of a third frame to carry the dial and a small fourth frame representing the porch with steps. Silvered plaques screwed to the front main plate for the retailer bell Bros Doncaster. Mounted on a rosewood veneered oval base with large glass dome.
