Scarce United States medical staff sword Patt 1840, very good 29 ¾' straight blade with crisp and clear etching decorated with floral tributes with centre panel etched United States medical staff: obverse side U.S eagle and shield E Oluribus Unim with trophies and floral tributes. 5% original gilt to brass hilt with U.S to Languet, eagle and shield cast into grip, urn shaped pommel complete with correct gilt brass scabbard with ornate drag and fitting and retaining 70 % gilt finish of the civil war period
