Description: A Rare 19th century South Taranaki Maori Wooden Bowl with horizontal lugs level with the rim. One end carved with a human tiki face (but now distressed), the other lug was not carved. Found in the bush and a hole in the bowl was caused by rot while lying on its side. Then in the 1920s painted red, but now only traces of red paint are left. It was placed in a garden where it was discovered again. The wood is dense, probably Matai Diameter 52cm Height 26 cm
