*** A Maori Hazard's Baby Repeater Winchester Model 1906.22 Calibre Rifle, manufactured 1922. The gun butt Maori carved on both sides with a naturalistic face in profile on the upper edge. One side has a large rauro type spiral below with whakarare pattern above. Other side has weku type face below with whakarare pattern above. Band of spirals with notching carved on underside of butt. . This rifle is in working condition. This style of rifle was a favourite for poachers in the late 19th Century ***
