*** the First Wireless Operator to Fly Across the Ocean - The James Warner Archive: James Warner (1891-1970) was the radio operator on the 'The Southern Cross' piloted by Charles Kingsford Smith and Charles Ulm for the first trans-Pacific flight in 1928. It was during this flight that radio communication was first used successfully on a long distance flight. In 1911 Warner went to Denver and enlisted in the Us Navy. *** Jack Collins' 1954 Leading Goalkicker Medal: Sterling silver & enamel medal, with on front 'Leading Goalkicker Medal/ AFL', and with bar on ribbon engraved '1954', in original presentation case. Jack Collins played 154 games for Footscray 1950-58. One of the best full-forwards of his era, Collins came from Yarraville. He played eight games for Victoria between 1952 and 1957 and won Footscray's best and fairest in 1951 and 1952. He was the Leagues leading goalkicker with 84 in 1954 and 74 in 1957.… ***

Vg condition, usual wear spot on brim where cap has been rubbed while being taken off. [Richie Benaud played 63 Tests 1951-64, including 28 as Australian captain. Benaud's slow maturing bore rich fruit in South Africa in 1957-58, when he took 30 Test wickets and made 327 in seven innings (once not out) for an average of 54.5.… ***
