The year 1888 obviously an historic one for Australia, as it marked the 1st Centenary of European Settlement in Australia, and it was the Jubilee of Queen Victoria, and as such the amount of buildings and works started, completed or both at the time was prolific. A boom year and 'The Argus' was the country's Premier Newspaper at the time, and it recorded the year's events with great vigour ***
