Wilks was President of the New South WalesLiterary and Debating Societies' Union after which, in 1887 was elected to its council. He was a member of the house of Representatives from 1901-1910. In original frame, glazed & signed lower left. ***

His works are displayed in prestigious institutions - The National Library and The Powerhouse Museum both dislay his original work.
